EPW - Jno. Grant, London, cylinder fusee with center-seconds and hacking function, 56mm, silver OF pair recases, outer bearing London hallmarks for 1789 or 1809 and casemaker's "T G" in cameo, outer containing paper for clock and watchmaker John Munroe of Barnstable, inner case bearing London hallmarks for 1801 and casemaker's "G S" in cameo, white enamel dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), cylinder escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled balance cock with large diamond endstone, originally also with a gilt locking dust-cap which is no longer present, s#659. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good hacking function, mvt was originally with a gilt locking dust-cap which is no longer present, mvt missing one of its case hinge knuckles, otherwise excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, typical fine to micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with tiny edge scratch near 1; excellent hands, minute a somewhat different shade of gold than other hands; outer case shows light wear, scattered dents and dings to rear, ding to bezel at 5, button latch with good function though button is sheared off a small bit above plane of case surface; inner case shows light wear, long vertical crease type dent to rear, uneven circumferential indentation of perimeter, scattered lesser dents and dings elsewhere; bow pivots freely; domed glass bull's-eye crystal with numerous small scratches and nicks.
